Andrew Bird (born July 11, 1973) is an American musician who was born in Lake Bluff Illinois and resides in Chicago Bird is a singer-songwriter, a violinist and guitarist since 2004, he is also a talented Whistler

His early works echoed gypsy jazz and Traditional folk music has led to his current sound that mixes rock with a broader composition of his years of solo song-Craft has now made it possible for him to produce a sound that is uniquely his own

Trained by the Suzuki method from an early age and a graduate of Illinois' Northwestern University, Bird released his first solo album Music of Hair in 1996 very different from his recent editions of this first album showcases his violin skills and pays tribute to his fascination with both American and European folkliga traditions as well as jazz and blues

His first commercial exposure in a joint work with the band Squirrel Nut Zippers, he was quickly lumped with the swing craze that swept the U.S. music industry in the mid-90s, which is a collaborative network that he is still working to bring

Taking the role as band leader in 1997 with Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire, he released the album Thrills This was followed by Oh! The Grandeur 1998 Both were strongly influenced by traditional folk music pre-war jazz and swing with Bird relies on the violin as his primary musical instruments

2001 Bird released The Swimming Hour his third release with the Bowl of Fire and a dramatic departure from previous recordings, The Swimming Hour featured a mix of styles from zydeco-influenced "Core End Rind "to simpler rock songs, he often refers to this register as its" jukebox album "

The Bowl of Fire unofficially down sometime in 2003, has featured many talented musicians including Chicago Kevin O'Donnell Nora O'Connor Andy Hopkins (aka Rudy Day), Jimmy Sutton Colin Bunn and Ryan Hembrey

Bird was released after two subsequent solo albums, both distributed by the label run by Ani DiFranco Righteous Babe Records, the two records 2003 Weather Systems and 2005, The Mysterious egg production to continue a progression towards an eclectic indie folk sound that has proved to be a challenge to classify

Bird's live solo shows have been notable because he uses a multi-track system to sample and loop his own performance, for example, kan he record a snippet of his performance on the violin, then play a "loop" in the sound this gives a more spacious sound and aurally suggests a band performance rather than the sound of a solo artist

Bird's next full-Lenth album Armchair Apocrypha (Fat Possum ) released on 20 March 2007

November 2007 saw the Soldier On EP was originally a European tour released was just dropping but because of high demand and unexpected critical approval in digital and CD formats on both sides of the Atlantic, critics and fans both have listened Parliament's first track "The Trees Were Mistaken" a complex string looping over the composition of which marks a departure from the Bird's previous body of work, it also contains a cover of Bob Dylan's "OhSister"
