All in all, Aylar played her character in a total of six music videos for Basshunter and graced the cover of all his singles. When it comes to internet exposure, no other celebrity in Norway has received as much attention as Aylar. After the success with Basshunter, Aylar was offered her own record deal with Ministry of Sound in 2010. At this time she also signed up with the Norwegian producer and artist manager David Eriksen.
Aylar’s first single “Some People” is featuring Ocean Drive and has already had a great success in France. It will be launched sometime in spring 2010, in the UK. In the course of July 2010 she will be performing at one of M.o.S. largest annual events, the ‘Dance Nation’ tour, visiting the biggest cities in the United Kingdom promoting the single.
As an actor, she recently debuted in Norway’s most expensive children’s movie: “YOHAN-Barnevandreren”. The film premiered in Norway March 26th 2010. It is a feature film based on a true story about children in Norway that made their living by walking the roads and earning money only a century ago. The movie has Aylar playing the part of a beautiful, gypsy woman named “Lexya”.
Aylar got to be known to her Norwegian audience as a glamour model, but she soon stepped up her goal to pursue more interesting venues, and have established herself among the strongest person related brands in Norway. Today she front brand names such as Christian Audigier, the man behind Ed Hardy and Von Dutch. Also collaborate with Luxe boots, Arnold Zimberg shirts, Rockstar jeans, Henry Cottons shirts, Cerrutti jackets and many more premium brands. Aylar has also been working with GUESS and several Norwegian designers.
Life did not start as a walk down the primrose lane for Aylar. She was born February 12th, 1984 in Teheran, Iran. At the age of three her family had to flee Iran due to the turbulent political situation. After travelling through Turkey, her family finally settled in Norway. Shortly after arriving in Norway, her parents separated and Aylar was placed in the custody of the Child Protective Service, and after a few years she was taken into foster care.
Aylar had been moved eighteen times before she began elementary school. Her mother had moved to the United States, while her father was in constant struggle with the Norwegian authorities. When Aylar turned 16, she went to Iran to visit her estranged family. At the time, Aylar could no longer speak Farsi or Azeri, and her father and the rest of her family seized the opportunity to keep her there against her will in Iran. A short visit to Iran, ended up with an 18 months struggle to escape back to Norway with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Child Protective Services and her Norwegian foster parents in Oslo.
Returning back from Iran, Aylar was no longer in a healthy mental condition. The good relation with her father and her relatives in Iran was in ruin, and as a girl in her late teens she was struggling to find her path in life. But her life was only beginning to get worse.
As soon as Aylar had returned safely to Norway, her biological mother contacted her from the United States and insisted that she should come to visit her in Los Angeles. Aylar’s Norwegian foster family opposed this. Considering that Aylar and her mother didn’t know each other any loner, they felt that what Aylar really needed at this time, was stability and a secure environment. She was meant to continue her studies that very autumn and she needed to get her perspectives and priorities straight. Aylar had at the time just turned 18, and failed to stand against her mother’s tempting offer to spend the summer holidays in the L.A.|This was a journey Aylar would regret taking place. The trip to L.A changed her life forever.
After having spent a month in the United States, Aylar, her mother and the mother’s new husband, went on a weekend trip to Las Vegas. Her mother’s husband took advantage of the situation and assaulted her. Frightened and confused, she ran away from them.
Without having anyone to turn to or anyplace to go, and strongly affected by the incident that had taken place, Aylar didn’t find the courage to call her foster parents and once again ask them for help. Instead she decided that she had to handle the situation on her own, but she had reached a physical and mental low in her life and was desperate. She quickly got involved with a bad crowd and started using drugs to flee from a reality. The drug abuse and her desperate situation soon led her to the adult entertainment industry, and soon an overdose on drugs. Her hospitalization led her back to Norway. Even more affected than she’d been after returning from Iran, depressed and down on her luck, she started to try and mend the pieces of her life.
By the summer of 2004 she decided to try her luck as a model and had an agreement with the prestigious hair salon chain Nikita, to be the face of their new campaign. She also went on to be a top 10 candidate for beauty pageant Miss Norway, where the winner represents Norway in the international Miss Universe pageant. Finally, fortune smiled upon her she felt. Unfortunately her past hunted her. Her involvement in the adult industry eventually led to her disqualification from Miss Norway and cancellation of the cooperation with Nikita.
The news of her past shocked the nation as well as her family. Her secret was reviled, and there were no turning back. Aylar quickly turned into a media phenomenon.
In spite of the disqualification and her sudden isolation from former friends and relatives, she decided to benefit from the unwanted publicity she had gotten, and make a career as a glamour model. She was an instant success, and in the course of a single calendar year, she managed to grace three covers for Norwegian FHM, a record she still holds, and graced the covers of several other magazines.
She was also the most sought after person online at this time, and the demand for glamour models exploded over night. The solution: Team Aylar. The idea behind Team Aylar was to put together a group exclusive models and personalities, which would serve as Norway’s version of a cross between professional models and The Pussycat Dolls. Team Aylar was officially launched in autumn 2005. The handpicked models rose quickly to stardom as Aylar’s team of models. The original line- up achieved massive interest and got to appear in music videos with some of the most featured Norwegian artists that year. They received an FHM cover as their first assignment, a separate introduction and showcasing in one of Norway’s most reputable men’s magazines and were seen associating with the most well-known and famous people in Norway. Team Aylar were highly in demand.
After a period of nearly two years Aylar dismissed the whole concept at the end of 2006, concentrating on a brand new project, namely the music. The song of choice was Italian hottie and 80’s idol Sabrina’s song “Boys Boys Boys”. The single was sold to FHM as an exclusive to their magazine, and a few months later she got in touch with Ministry of Sound.
While Aylar’s character in the Basshunter videos ravaged music channels abroad, she continued to keep a low profile in the Norwegian media during the co-operation with the British record label.
As a high profiled celebrity, she received a couple of offers from a major Norwegian publishing house, to write her memoirs. She decided to say no at first, but towards the end of 2006, she wanted to come forward and explain how and why things had turned out the whey they did, that dreadful summer in US back in 2002.
Aylar continues to work as an artist, and will continue to keep her focus on the music and her education. Whatever the future holds, there is no doubt about it; Aylar’s trials and triumphs is proof that she’s got the star quality needed to be a celebrity, and she’s here to stay.
