All three members were born in Solihull Hospital and went to school on an area of land that was left to education by Sir Alfred Bird of Birds Custard fame. They also all served in underground noise pop heroes Distophia. Calories played their first live shows in June 2008, and their debut album Adventuring (recorded in just five days after the band’s third show) was released in January 2009 via Smalltown America. They have since released a limited single on Big Scary Monsters, and will be releasing a split 7” with William in February 2010 through Tough Love Records. Calories return with sophomore album Basic Nature, released on September 13th via Tough Love Records. A rich and varied record, Basic Nature sees Calories compliment strong melodic hooks with frenetic noise, recalling such underground titans as Hot Snakes, Cap ‘N’ Jazz and No Age.
