Heidi Parviainen is a female soprano singer from Espoo, Finland and currently the singer of Finnish symphonic power metal band Amberian Dawn. Previously she was in a band called Iconofear.|
Heidi started taking piano lessons at the age of 11 and taking classical singing lessons at the age of 14. In 1997, in her high school days, a couple of guys from a high school band asked her to sing on their EP. The band was called Agonia, they played death metal. She joined the band as a keyboard player and a backing vocalist. Soon the band’s music evolved and the name was renamed to Iconofear. After years of classical singing studies she grew up to the idea of being a vocalist and during the years with Iconofear she has grown into heavy metal music. In the summer 2006 she started to look for a band, a metal band, because it seemed to be the closest to her interests. Tommi Seppälä and Tommi Kuri spotted her application, listened to her samples and called her. Soon after, Amberian Dawn was formed.
