Kenickie were a punk-indie band from Sunderland, United Kingdom formed in 1994 at the height of the Britpop era, advocated by British DJ John Peel two of their singles were voted into the festive fifty in 1996 with "Point" comes in at number 4 and "Come Out 2Nite "placed at number 1 1997 saw three UK Top 40 Singles Chart (" In Your Car "Nightlife" and a new release of the "Point") and their debut album "At The Club" made the UK Top 10 follow-up "Get In" was less successful and the famous group disbanded after a show in 1998 when singer Lauren Laverne declared, "We were Kenickie ... a bunch of fuckwits'
