VELVET EDEN is an electronic / darkwave / visual kei band from Tokyo, Japan.
Founded in 1998 and originally consisting of only vocalist Dada (former E-Typ & Pride of Mind vocalist) and keyboardist/programmer Kalm, they released two albums and a video before Kalm decided to leave in 2000. Their music changed drastically from almost pure darkwave to rock with the inclusion of an ever changing roster of new members. (In 2000: Hora, Masahiro, Abe, R.Y.O; In 2001-2002: Bera, Mimi, Lem). Producing just one single, the only constant member was Dada, whose absence at a 2002 live show was then the end of VELVET EDEN, though it was not declared officially.
VELVET EDEN was revived on May 1st 2010, this time Dada teaming up with Aci from The Royal Dead and two dancers, Lilly and Yurikago. They’ve also created a site in MySpace. In 2010, Yurikago left the band and was replaced by another dancer, Ceeei. This year also marked their first official release since the 2010 revival, entitled “Witch on Flames.” This CD contained remastered versions of all three demo songs released on their MySpace as well as an introductory SE.
