She began focusing on her singing career at the tender age of 12 after receiving the tragic news that her dad was diagnosed with cancer. Singing and listening to music countless hours of the day helped relieve her from the stress of her father’s medical situation. During the last stages of his illness, AK serenaded her father with Mariah Carey’s “Butterfly.” It was his admiration towards her vocal talent that led her to continue the singing path as a way to help others get through their everyday struggles. In the 8th grade, AK formed a group, Sweet, and wrote her first song, Just Look. Branching off before high school, she hit the studio to record her first original solo song, Dreamin, at the age of 14.
