Brainpower (real name: Gertjan Mulder) is a popular Dutch MC/rapper whose career rocketed after winning the Grand Prix of the Dutch Talent Show in 1998. Together with his long time friend and collaborator turntablist DJ TLM (www.djtlm.com) he released his long-awaited debut album “Door Merg & Brain” (‘Through Bonemarrow & Brain”) in 2001. His second album “Verschil moet er zijn” (‘There has to be distinction’ certified gold) spawned his greatest hit so far, the single “Dansplaat” (‘Dancetrack’). The single (certified gold) held the no.1 spot for 6 weeks (4 weeks in Holland and 2 weeks in Belgium).
Apart from collaborations with many dutch rappers, Brainpower has also recorded tracks with Nas and Kool Keith. Both tracks can be found on his third album “Even Stil” (“Quiet for a moment”).
