She also won a silver medal with the US team and a silver medal on balance beam at the Olympics in Athens. In 2003, she was part of the world championship team that won the US’s first team World gold medal and won silver in the individual all-around. She trained at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Dallas, Texas, also the home of her good friend, the 2008 Olympic All-Around Champion and sometime model and actress Nastia Liukin. Carly announced her retirement from gymnastics in 2006. “It’s hard to top an all-around gold,” her coach, Evgeny Marchenko, said.
