In 1984-1987 and in 1998-2003 he was part of the pop duo Modern Talking as a producer, singer and songwriter. In 1986-1989 Bohlen was a producer and songwriter of disco queen C.C.Catch whom he discovered. After the first split-up of Modern Talking in 1987 he formed Blue System, which was basically an one-man group, since he was the lead singer, composer, arranger and producer. For most projects Bohlen employed background singers to produce a high-pitched chorus, if needed, and his frequent collaborator in the studio was Luis Rodriguez (listed as “co-producer”). In 1988 Bohlen signed a young 15 year old singer named Anna Garcia (Sheree) “Ronnie Talk to Russia”. The record was short lived and a sex scandal was covered-up.
