DJ Sy is tagged as: happy hardcore, uk hardcore, jungle, old school hardcore, oldschool rave DJ Sy (real name Simon) has been on the happy hardcore scene for a long time. He became interested in Hip Hop and scratching whilst at school and spent a long time perfecting his DJing. DJ SY was a student in Nottingham during the Acid House days and following college decided to stay in the city. He was DJing professionally in clubs from around 1989 with a mixture of hip-hop, soul and house. He gained a residency around 1990 at the Nottingham club Venus. As well as DJing SY co-owns a studio in Aldershot, Hampshire, and formed his own record label Quosh Records in 1994. This went on to be one of the hardcore scenes most prolific labels. Partnered by DJ Unknown, Sy has created some of the best selling tunes - amongst which is the remix of “Discoland”, and the ground breaking “Bring Me Round To Love”. The pairing have produced prolifically across all dance music styles, and have had chart hits with garage music. They produce records under various pseudonyms in many other styles including Breaks, Drum & Bass and House scenes.
