She made her debut as an actress in April 1991 in the TV drama Mou dare mo Aisanai. Her first single, Densetsu no Shoujo, composed by Ami Ozaki, (famed for penning songs for Anri and Seiko Matsuda), was released in May and she won Best Newcommer at the Nihon Record Taishou that year. Mizuki earned much popularity from her commercials that she and two other popular actresses, Miyazawa Rie and Makise Riho, were given the nickname “3M” (Mizuki, Miyazawa and Makise).
