Engelsstaub is tagged as: neofolk, darkwave, medieval, gothic, ethereal Mark Hofmann (formerly known as GODkrist) found ENGELSSTAUB (German for “angel’s dust”) in 1992. It was meant to be his solo project as well as the follow up project of the band LES FLEURS DU MAL. From the very beginning, all releases of ENGELSSTAUB were released exclusively through the label APOLLYON - the label he runs together Janusz Zaremba.|After the release of the 7” single “Unholy”, his sister Silke (formerly known as Lilith) and his labelmate Janusz Zaremba joined the band. Both gave new accents to the band: Silke with her wonderful clear voice and Janusz with his extraordinary Polish vocal performances but he plays the guitar as well. In 1993 the debut CD “Malleus Maleficarum” saw the light of day and the tracks “Kissed By God” and “Fallen Angel” hit the dancefloors across European clubs. With the release of the second album “Ignis Fatuus: Irrlichter” in 1994 ENGELSSTAUB crossed the frontiers between Gothic, Alternative and World music and the track “Victim Of Love” turned out to be a massive clubhit which it still is.
