Five Minute Ride was originally formed in ‘02 and signed to an indie based label out of Sacramento CA called 720-Records. The band released their first EP entitled Bathroom Walls…Lipstick Secrets”. They received a strong fan base in Northern California after consistently playing local shows spreading from Oakland to San Jose, and Sacramento. On August 10th of ‘03 the band experienced the unexpected death of their close friend and band mate Alex Poole. After this tremendous loss, plans of the future for the band were unknown. With new inspiration to follow his (Alex’s) dream, the band picked up where they had left off and worked even harder. The healing process was aided by their fans and close family members, whom they can not praise enough. With the movement of Josh Dayley to guitar (who previously played bass and was Alex’s close friend) and the addition of DJ Rogers to fill in for Josh on Bass, the band has a new outlook on life and music. In the past year the band has workedto recover the beautiful sounds they created with Alex while developing a new innovative style that they may call their own.
