After a few years of growth & experimenting, Johnnyrook became one of the more prominent bands in the Minneapolis rock scene, playing nearly every venue in town. But, with the release of “Between Love & Loss”, produced by Mike Dresch (The Spill Canvas, Nodes Of Ranvier), the band chose to focus on areas beyond their hometown. Weekend warrior trips throughout the midwest gave the band a taste of what they truly wanted, and summer of 2007 saw Johnnyrook hit the road for a steady couple months on a completely self-booked tour. By the end of the year, the band played nearly 100 shows throughout the midwest and central United States. At the end of their summer tour, the band entered the studio with Chris Grainger (Switchfoot, Wilco, Dropping Daylight), a producer they chose to help mature the already distinct Johnnyrook sound. Fronted by soulful vocals reminiscent of a modern-day Joe Cocker, combined with technical guitar work spanning today’s heaviest as well as most melodic genres, Johnnyrook have truly come into their own. 2008 saw Johnnyrook continue to tour regionally, showcasing at Red Gorilla Music Festival in Austin, TX.
