Juice Leskinen is tagged as: finnish, rock, suomirock, singer-songwriter, pop Pauli Matti Juhani Leskinen (February 19, 1950 Juankoski, Finland - November 24, 2006 Tampere, Finland), better known only as Juice Leskinen, was one of the most prominent Finnish singer-songwriters of the late 20th century. Since the early 1970s, he released nearly 30 full-length albums, as well as wrote lyrics for dozens of Finnish artists. Several of Leskinen’s songs have reached classic status in Finnish popular music, e.g. “Viidestoista yö”, “Kaksoiselämää” and “Syksyn sävel”. His early records are considered staples of the so-called Manserock movement of the mid ’70s. In addition to Leskinen’s musical work, he extended his focus on poetry and playwriting with nine collections of verse and seven plays published. In early 70’s Leskinen collaborated with Mikko Alatalo, who later started to make easy listening music, rather than Finnish Rock, which became Leskinen’s own territory. In 2004, after Alatalo’s becoming an MP in 2003, Leskinen and Alatalo reunited for the album “Senaattori ja Boheemi” (The Senator and The Bohemian).
