She sang with various friends and family in Folk clubs and venues all over Scotland. Moving to the Isle Of Mull proved a turning point in Karen’s musical journey when she started singing in Gaelic and won a gold medal at The Mod in Sky in the Folk Band category. For the next nine years Karen would sing locally with other musicians from Mull including a support spot with The Easy Club in Tobermory. Back in Fife after leaving Mull Karen continued to perform with a band called Shindig, a band with an ever changing line up of local musicians. One of the highlights of those years was supporting Dougie Maclean at a gig in St Andrews. Always torn between her love of music and working as a visual artist Karen took a break from music to set up her business called Funky Scottish. Recently Karen has got back into writing and recording songs and is working with Stephen Harrison,another artist/musician. In 2010 she released a CD album called ‘Seldom True’ .
