He was a master tanbur player, but also performed and recorded on many instruments, including cello, ud, kemence, lavta, violin, viola, baglama, and other Turkish folk instruments. He was a choir director and an ethnomusicologist who revised some traditional pieces of Turkish music and interpreted them successfully.
