This is where the famous Dutch bands BZN and The Cats come from as well. Another well known solo artist from Volendam is Jan Smit, whom is a good friend of Nick and Simon. Before they started as a duo, Nick and Simon played in the band of Jan Smit. Simon Keizer is the composer of some of Jan Smit’s songs, including the top 3 hitsingle “Laura”. Nick & Simon also participated in the Dutch Pop ‘Idols’. Nick reached the eleventh position and Simon had to leave in the qualifying rounds. After that adventure they started working on their own repertoire. In 2006 their first self-titled album was released, which made it straight into the top 10 in the charts in the first week.|After the success of the first album, they came with a new album “Vandaag”.
