It was composed of Jonathan Painchaud, Éloi Painchaud, Hugo Perreault, Michel Duguay, Éric Gosselin, Frédéric Lebrasseur and Patrice Painchaud (occasional participation). The band started playing under the name Kababousté at a contest organized by Cégep F.-X. Garneau in 1994. Then it changed its name for Okoumé when a radio station in Quebec City organized another contest. Many Okoumé’s songs toped charts in the whole Quebec Province.
