Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in April 1986, Paul was influenced to write music at the age of 12, after taking up the guitar when he was 7. At age 16, Paul started his first band, ‘Aries’, with school friend Vicki McAuley. Despite minor success and a hidden gem in the track ‘One Million Kisses’, Paul moved to Scotland when he was 18, went solo, and started rehearsing with a band (John Currie/Johnnie McDowell) in late 2007. Scoring a record deal with local indie label Cynical Monkey Records after only 1 gig, Paul Cuthbert wrote and recorded his debut E.P. ‘Songs from a Room’ in early 2008. This was released to strong acclaim on 7th April 2008, just a day before Paul’s 22nd birthday. The release of the E.P. was celebrated with the bands’ first ever headline show at The Union, Paisley on 10th April. Paul went onto record a second E.P. and played in venues throughout Scotland with the band, before starting work on his debut solo album in 2009.
