He was born in Halmstad, Sweden. He was a founding member of Gyllene Tider in 1979, and together with a friend, singer Marie Fredriksson, started the successful band Roxette in 1986. He has also participated with the Swedish singer Nisse Hellberg in the project The Lonely Boys.
