Racine is tagged as: pop, female vocalists, british girls, new wave, uk There are, at least, two artists known as Racine: 1) A band fronted by Wendy James, a singer-songwriter best known for her lead singing role in the late 80’s pop band Transvision Vamp. In 1993 she released her first solo album, containing songs written for her by Elvis Costello, “Now Ain’t The Time For Your Tears”. It was not a commercial or critical success, and she was soon dropped by her record company. In 2004, Wendy James resurfaced, fronting Racine and released Racine No. 1, on which she performs all instruments, via Pia-K Recordings, her own label. Racine has since expanded to a 5-piece group, and a second album, Racine No.2, is imminent, as is a tour. Wendy James now resides in New York City. James announced on her Myspace blog that she was working on an album entitled I Came Here To Blow Minds, which was recorded in Paris in 2009. A release date was not mentioned, until in April 2010 it said it was to be released soon, but has not done so.
