That being said, Shannen Macleason is the exception. From the tender age of 9, where her songwriting and musical endeavors began, Shannen knew that a career in music was her destiny. Gifted with the ability to play piano and guitar without ever being taught, she quickly understood that performing on stage was something she planned to do for the rest of her life. As a young girl growing up in Portugal, Shannen began entering songwriting contests to showcase her talents. At 16 she won the Christian Song Contest in her local church for her outstanding lyrics and went on to write, direct and produce a tribute musical to the 15th century Portuguese Discoverers.
