Somegirl formed in the fall of 2000 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Stephen Mork, an electronic musician of some 10 years, placed an ad for a female vocalist looking to form a songwriting duo. Kristin Buckman responded and in short-order Somegirl was formed. After a dozen or so songs were written and a handful of local shows were played, a friend suggested that a demo CD should be sent to A Different Drum (ADD) – America’s #1 synthpop label. In the summer of 2001 Somegirl was offered a contract by ADD, so they went to work completing songwriting for the CD and rerecording the material at the local studio, Otherworld Recording.
