Spooky & Sue is tagged as: Spooky and Sue were a 70s Pop duo who got their break in The Netherlands. It consisted of the singers Iwan Groeneveld (Aruba, 1946) and Sue Chaloner (London, England: 12 Mach 1953). Groeneveld previously was a member the Dutch band “The Swinging Soul Machine”. Chaloner was asked by manager Han Meijer and producer Jaap eggermont to join to form a duo in 1970. Originally Big John Russell was to be her musical partner, but is said to have declined. However on their first and biggest hit, “Swinging on a Star”, a re-work of the Bing Crosby classic, Big John can be heard, as well as on the second single “You Talk Too Much”. During live performances the duo were accompanied by the Amsterdam based band Mayflower. They entered the National Dutch song-contest (Nationale Songfestival) in 1976 with the single “Do You Dig It”, ending up last. After this they got invited by impresario Lou van Rees to to Cannes for the Midem event. This was successful and they got invited to tour France and Japan. However commercial success did not last and their next single, You’ve Got What It Takes, did not enter the charts. In 1977 Spooky and Sue both opted to continue as solo artist.
