At age 13, her first year of middle school she was enchanted by a live of Christina Aguilera and told many people and dreamed of singing. She was determined to aim to be a singer in Japan so she came to Japan. She continued to study Japanese and do vocal training and made a demo tape of her singing and prepared for her first time debut in Japan. SunMin debuted with her first single in 2006 - a collaboration with established j&b singer Toshinobu Kubota, for the movie Nihon Chinbotsu. She also did a duet of the same song with with Hyesung from Shinhwa for the Korean version of the song. Her latest album BRAND NEW GIRL was released in 2008.
