The band’s sound is typically described as “after hours Hot Water Music” offering emotional yet reserved vocal stylings over predominantly rhythm guitar parts, a melodic bass line and intricate drumming.
The Blacktop Cadence consisted of members of Hot Water Music and Baroque: |Chris James Wollard (Guitar/Lead Vocals) (HWM)|George A. Rebelo (Drums) (HWM)|Jack Duane Bailey (Guitar/Backing Vocals) (Baroque)|Heather Ann Parker (Bass) (Baroque)
In 1997, the band released one album, Chemistry For Changing Times on the defunct Keystone-Ember record label. It was reissued in 2003 by No Idea Records on CD and vinyl. The band also contributed a track titled, “To The Rhythm of a Cold Night In Virginia” to Deep Elm Records for “The Emo Diaries” series.
The band broke up sometime in 1998. Chris and George continued playing with Hot Water Music, Jack Bailey resurfaced a few years later in Army of Ponch and Heather moved to San Diego to pursue a career in teaching.
