The Middle East is tagged as: indie, australian, folk, post-rock, ambient The Middle East are a unique band out of Townsville in Queensland, Australia. They use various influences from post-rock to folk to ambient, creating a magical, hypnotic sound featuring varying instrumentation and gentle, addictive guitar hooks. Various members have at different times played in other North QLD based groups such as Joseph Liddy and the Skeleton Horse, The Forest and We Are Buildings. In 2006 they released a split EP with local Cairns band Sleeping In Trains which is still available at http://www.myspace.com/sleepingintrains.|Their debut full-length was released on 24th April 2008. They released their work as an EP in the United States in fall of 2009 and is available here at http://www.themiddleeastmusic.com. The EP, entitled “The Recordings of the Middle East” is a re-release of their earlier locally produced album of the same name, bar a few tracks. This album version is no longer in print.
