The Ultrasonics is tagged as: synthpop, pop, electronic, electropop, dance Forming in the summer 2006, the group’s three producers,James and Jonathan Kinnear and Cliff Millender, were introduced to singer Hannah Sanders and The Ultrasonics was born. |Inspired by the classic electro sounds from the 80s, The Ultrasonics set out to create a new sound mixing retro electropop with a fresh, modern twist. The band began writing and producing material for their first album, a fusion of warm synths, electro basslines and big killer hooks. After an opportunity came for Hannah to spend much time in Europe, new singer Johanna Lee Gervin joined the line-up and the group spent much of 2008 touring the UK and building up a dedicated fan base. The band performed at some of London’s key venues and headlined in front of thousands on the main stage at Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend, alongside Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Alphabeat, Roisin Murphy and Client. The Ultrasonics released their debut single ‘Perfect Girl’ in August 2008 as a “buzz release”, just a taster of what’s to come. The opportunity then arose for Hannah to record with the group once again, and after missing her boys she returned as the face and voice of The Ultrasonics.
