He is a Chicago based artist whose inspiration comes from all genres of music. Fitting no traditional musical mold, Benson’s characterizations is as uncertain as the age he began to sing. As a child he was not allowed to listen to Hip Hop or R&B, growing up on mainly Pop and Soul. His first love was Rock and Roll, but since his relationship with R&B began in high school, there has been no looking back. Benson first realized that he wanted to pursue a career in music in grade school. Later as he became influenced by the likes of New Edition, Jodeci and Boyz II Men, his interest in music grew. After hearing Tevin Campbell’s, “Stand Out”, featured on the film, A Goofy Movie, his desire to become famous was born. Benson now finds singing as a form of expression that is of no comparison to anything else that he knows; it is his identity. In high school, the group TriEnd was formed.
