Zakiya Cox went on to win the judges approval at the world famous Apollo Theatre in New York City during her Amateur Night performance.Zakiya was sign brought to Ric Wake’s Production company as part of a girl group Faces by Producer Shedrick Guy and she did a cover of Michael Jackson’s I Wanna Be Where You Are In 1997, she scored a minor 2nd R&B hit single with “My Love Won’t Fade Away” on DV8/A&M Records. Her self-titled debut album “Zakiya” also included her first R&B Hit single “Love Like Mine” which was released in 1996, as well as “When The Last Teardrop Falls” in late 1997 ,early-98.(which would later be covered and Re-Sung by the R&B trio Blaque).
