Johnny "Hammond" Smith (born John Robert Smith) was an American jazz organist born in Louisville Kentucky, December 16, 1933 and who died June 4, 1997 Smith was a renowned player of the Hammond B-3 organ thus earning "Hammond" as a nickname Smith, a series of albums on the prestigious CTI Records (Creed Taylor) jazz record label Hammond's song "Switch" was featured on the breakbeat compilation "Ultimate Breaks and Beats"
