Owen Pallett (born Michael James Owen Pallett-Plowright September 7, 1979) is a violinist and singer from Toronto Ontario Canada and winner of the first Polaris Music Prize on December 18, 2009 Pallett said that he would retire his old stage name Final Fantasy and would henceforth release their material under his name earlier albums were released during the Final Fantasy names are to be re-packaged and re-released under the new name of Owen Pallett
Pallett has been known for their live performances in which he plays the violin into a sampler controlled by foot pedals, which then loops back one or more of the previously played music phrases as he plays additional parts simultaneously, he has also performed with more traditional string quartets as underlag musicians
