Growing up in a household where music played a prominent role, Addictiv’s commitment to her music began at an early age. “My dad’s a musician; he’s a pianist/singer. I grew up listening to him play all the time. Every day he would be in the basement practicing and my sister and I would watch or play around him. He’s been such an influence on my music. My house was a music haven. If my dad wasn’t practicing his own music we were still listening to all sorts of music. He had it all. Classic Stevie Wonder tunes to Prince. ” Addictiv first attracted attention singing at local venues, and she subsequently began a professional career as a back up vocalist in studio recording sessions and live acts for Canadian artists such as Carl Henry and Jodie Resther, to name a few. This later garnered the attention of industry professionals such as the critically acclaimed neo-soul artist Erykah Badu and R&B veteran Ashanti. Addictiv worked the stage as their opening act. In addition, Addictiv’s tremendous talent and drive have provided her with the opportunity to perform alongside Usher, Tyrese and others. Having tackled the performance aspect of the art, Addictiv began honing her writing skills and started showcasing her own material during her shows. This then lead to numerous collaborations with international artists including; Kay Slay (Hot 97 DJ – New York); Papoose (FlipMode Squad/Jive/Busta Rhymes); Pitbull (TVT Records/Lil Jon), Mikey Dangerous; and EST writer for Beyoncé and many others. 2006 proved to be a good start for Addictiv. With her debut single “Little Game” entering the Canadian Top 30 and Top 40 CHR charts (BDS and Media Base) and gaining national airplay, it’s combination of Dance Hall, Reggaeton, Pop, R&B and Miami bounce made it a hot track. “Little Game” (and the Remix) were mixed by mega mixer/engineer Glen Marchese (Lil Kim, “Lighters Up”; Busta Rhymes, “Touch It” and LL Cool J, “Hush”) and mastered by Chris Gehringer from Sterling Sound (Rihanna, LL Cool J, Chamillionare), so it’s no surprise that it’s a crowd pleaser. Plus, the “Little Game” B-side provides remixes featuring Hip Hop artist PitBull, Mikey Dangerous and Dee. The enticing heart-pounding bass and “Addictiv” hook, gives you a taste of good old southern hospitality. With the success of her first single “Little Game”, Addictiv is set to release her sophomore single titled “Everything”. This year has already given Addictiv accolades with 2 Canadian Radio Music Award nominations for Best New Group and Best New Group or Solo Artist- Dance/Urban/Rhythmic. “I was shocked when I found out I was nominated for not one but two radio awards this year! I am honored and appreciative… the hard work is paying off and Urban Heat is bringing that heat to ya. For the New Year expect to see a lot from me… I wanna bring the best album I can make for people to enjoy.” Addictiv is raising the bar and taking it to the next level making her an up and coming player in the music game- Addictiv is Hip Hop.
