Born in 1965, She was raised and got my education in state dormitories. In those years music became a lonely hope in her sad environment. In that continuously stressful environment music seems to have a such tenderness which covers people and helps a lot communicate with each other. Following her graduation from High-school she was selected to Conservatory to study Opera but she had to drop my classes and to start working. Anyhow music should take its place in her life. While she was working, she also joined Turkish Radio Television youth chorus, Opera of Istanbul youth chorus and Church of St. Antoine chorus. She took conservatory entrance exams one more time and got selected as number one draft. While she was studying, she taught music in the kindergartens and trained youth choruses to earn her life. Conservatory education was very important to improve her technic, she learned new Arias everyday and performed those in the Conservatory concerts and got good reactions. Everything was just fine but she felt that something was missing. This feeling started to work on folk songs with her vocal teacher. She felt that she had to sing folk songs. Because her voice and her feelings came to life better with folk songs, Singing folk songs was making her so happy, she finally found her target in her career. That is what it was missing. When the time has come to record an album, she immediately said that “I’m gonna sing Turkish Folk Songs”. However she was aware it was not that easy to sing Turkish Folk Songs as it should be sang and to give its due. She overcame this problem with her rich experiences in the contemporary music. In this first album, She performed the songs that are known and favored with Ferhat Livaneli’s contemporary music. She wanted to name this album “Sevin Gayrı” (Be Happy) as her slogan is Love and Peace. |
