In 1989, Banda Los Recoditos was formed with a group of young students who joined their musical knowledge. The band’s name came from the fact that some of them are children of members of the Banda el Recodo, a very well known Mexican band, formed by Cruz Lizárraga. Lizárraga invited the boys to participate in a party held for a family friend, José Ángel Espinoza Ferrusquilla, who was recognized by naming a street in the port of Mazatlan. That these young musicians caught the attention of attendees and Ferrusquilla itself and between the two came up with the name of the group: Banda Sinaloense Los Recoditos.
