Outside of their late night quarrels, this duo from Philadelphia (consisting of Ben Camp & Mat Leutwyler) have managed to sign a two-album deal with Secret Planet and have been snapped up by Effective Management (home to Aidan Lavelle, Chris Salt and Orchid). Be on the lookout for the first BCML album to be released in 2005. As solo artists, neither Ben nor Mat are strangers to the scene. Ben Camp has had releases on labels such as Fade, Silver Planet, Kubist, Movim, Inversus, Terraform and Dorigen whilst Mat Leutwyler’s work with Joshua Ryan has been featured on US powerhouse label System Recordings. Together, as BCML, they both also have material forthcoming on Josh Wink’s Ovum Recordings. As well as producing and remixing, they both run their own labels; Ben’s Movim and Mat’s Hatch Music respectively and DJ world-wide on a regular basis with solid residencies and radio shows in the US. For in-depth information on these two, please see their individual biographies. Their BCML project is a combination of Ben & Mat’s varied musical talents. The style ranges from acid tech to house to electro and it is impossible to categorise strictly in one genre. No one can be quite sure exactly what drives them to create their unique sound, but some think it stems from the fact that they absolutely refuse to work on music anytime other than between the hours of midnight and six in the morning. BCML’s first single, ‘FUN’ (currently on promo) is a massive electro-house dancefloor filler – it’s a superb debut from an act that will be making a name for itself in the coming months. BCML have already remixed artists such as Ozgur Can (“The Love Below”) and Kosmas Epsilon (“Hollow Rue”) and their next remix (Agent M “We Are One”) will be out later this year on Silver Planet. |
