Actress/musician/songwriter Bia Bedran has won a number of prizes during her career devoted to the children, like the Prêmio MEC (awarded by the National Department of Education), the Mambembe trophy for the shows Música Para Brincar e Cantar (Music to Play and Sing) and Bloco da Palhoça (1981), and the Coca-Cola prize for Children’s Theatre for the show Bia Canta e Conta (Bia Sings and Tells Stories) (1990). She has worked together with Nick Zarvos, Ana Maria Machado, and Sidney Matos. From 1987 to 1993, she presented the TV show Canta Conto at the public broadcasting TV Educativa (Rio de Janeiro). Since 1988, she has toured Brazil with music and storytelling shows. Alongside her several TV shows, Bedran also recorded nine albums of children’s music, wrote and launched three children’s books and a CD-ROM, and participated in Rildo Hora and Martinho da Vila’s children’s musical Você Não Me Pega. ~ Alvaro Neder, All Music Guide |
