Bullerbyne, formed in 1994 in Brno, is a pioneering Czech electronic band.
Bullerbyne was preceded by the electroindustrial band, Neue Sprache, formed by Lubos Mikula, Marek Pavlas and Petr Vanek. In concerts, the band featured Commodore Amiga, the snare drum and a Black & Decker grinder for machining large metal pieces. Also, as part of their musical performance, the band used iron bars to produce typical metal sounds. Neue Sprache met with swift success and played in many popular clubs around the Czech Republic. When Petr Vanek decided to leave the band, the formation started to play more ambient electronic music and changed its name to Bullerbyne.
In 1997 Bullerbyne released their first album, Crappy Crispy Magic Music. It was soon sold out and two of the tracks, Warez and Too Much Power, became hits and were often compared to songs by Underworld. One of the songs on the album, Right To Be Here, was sung by a guest soloist, Mario Feinberg from Narvan. In 1997 Bullerbyne was joined by the keyboardist, Boleslav Brezovský. In 1999 one of the founding members of the band, Marek Pavlas, left the band to pursue other projects. Lubos Mikula moved from Brno to Prague where he keeps writing and remixing songs for other bands, such as Priessnitz, Here, Swordfishtrombones, OK Band. In concerts the band performs with the percussionist, Onehalph, the guitar player, Vienna, and the bass player, Jiri Schneider.
