1) Chasm the DJ is heavily influenced and inspired by soul, roots, reggae and jazz music; all of which is highly evident in the construction of his unique production that results in Chasm bringing a distinctive flavour to Australian hip hop. With a penchant for old analogue gear and dusty vinyl, this beat-smith can most often be found deep in the crates of his local record store. Since dropping his self titled debut EP in 2004, Chasm has been busy collaborating with some of Australia’s finest MCs. As well as releasing a limited edition 7” in 2005 titled “Cyanide Tip,” he has also most recently worked with his crew “Astronomy Class” on the critically acclaimed full length LP “Exit Strategy.” Having wrapped up production and remixes for The Tongue, The Herd, Urthboy and Diafrix, Chasm has now released his own full length album “Beyond the beat tape” in February 2008. 2) Chasm is a technical death metal band from Glasgow, Scotland . Chasm were formed in Glasgow in October 2008. The 5 members come from a varied musical background, bound together by a mutual love of metal. The band’s first EP will be recorded in March/April 2009 and then they will embark on their first UK tour in August. The band has been active since the beginning of the century, whilst suffering significant lineup changes over the years, only the founder Hans Robert Bondhus (guitars, programming) remain of the original cast. After experiencing a boost in live and studio activity in 2007/2008 after having drummer Øystein Skattebu join the band, lead singer Christer Moe Gjerde departed from the band out of personal reasons, and Bjarte Øvregård (former bassist, and formerly of A Beast) stepped up to resume vocal duties. Jørgen Øyre replaced Bjarte as bassist, and Chasm is as of now (August 2009) preparing for touring Norway this fall, and recording their debut record which is scheduled to be released in late spring 2010. Their music may most easily be described as something in the twilight zone between Porcupine Tree, Coldplay, Mew, Madrugada and Pink Floyd, and a lot of time and energy is spent on perfecting each individual song, making Chasm a band to be taken seriously. Main pseudonym for broken beats, with recordings on Fatcat Records and others. 5) Chasm, or Chasm (nz), is an Experimental/Progressive Metal band from Christchurch, New Zealand. Beginning as a 2 piece experimental side-project in 2007, Chasm took full form during early 2009 with the addition of Andy taking the band and its sound much further than before with new atmospheres and compositional ideas. Shortly after Kaine joined, bringing his unique bass playing into the mix. Rehearsals were productive from early on, but the band still needed a vocalist to complete the line-up. In late 2009 Steve joined the band on vocals, bringing power and aggression as well as melody and conceptually abstract yet thought provoking lyrics.
