Practice makes perfect! Wise words that everyone’s heard from granny, grandpa or another relative and, however much one hates to admit the old dears might be right, precocious old proverbs do have an|element of truth. So how might one expect someone to turn out, who born in the early 70s in that epicentre of hippydom, the German Ruhr District – discovers already as a child his love of music?
|Even though, back then, when little CORENELL was just eight years youngand getting up the nose of any and every neighbour that had some kind of instrument by constantly popping by and begging to borrow it, no-one got excited, however much musical ambition he showed. This was to change dramatically in the decades that followed.
|The rock band he founded at 14 didn’t quite bring the success he so sorely wanted: not a trace of fame, honour or groupies. Perhaps CORENELL was still just too clueless. He did, after all, get robbed of probably the only potential hit he’d ever penned by the somewhat|better known band from the neighbouring rehearsal room. But never one to bear a grudge and far removed from the green-eyed monster,CORENELL learnt well from his misfortune, saw that he’d been|seriously underestimating his talent for production and song-writing – andembarked without a moment’s hesitation on a new career.
|As the years went by, musical tastes changed – and what else could one expect in the 90s? New equipment for producing and playing electronicmusic was a must! Only just of legal age at his first|club gigs, CORENELL was greeted at his door on his 23rd birthday by the first A&R with a record contract that was to be followed by numerous further signings.
|Then there it was: the longed-for success, fame, honour and the odd willing groupie – not only in Germany and Europe but particularly, in far-flung spots abroad. Canada, the USA, South and Central America,Malaysia, the Philippines,Japan, Russia, Australia and New Zealand were only some of the stations CORENELL visited – still travelling at that time under several different aliases.
All well and good – yet in 2006 CORENELL opened a new chapter in his musical career and reinvented himself with the goal of once again takingup the challenge, full of élan and confidence. With pumping Tech and Electro-House beats he set about stirring up the scene and its clubs. “A Deeper Love” gave the starting shot in 2006, followed by remixes for Kleerup, Dada, Plastik Funk and Goleo IV vs. Atomic Kitten “Keep On Jumpin’” – a new version of Todd Terry’s legendary|House-hymn – has just been released and appeared directly at number 1 at the UK Dance Charts. This makes it as clear as day that CORENELL is a name to be noted.
