Dead Celebrity Status is a Canadian hip-hop band. Rappers Yas Taalat and Bobby McIntosh formed a precursor group, Project Wyze, in 1988 as young teens. The duo later collaborated with a group of punk rock musicians and became best known as a rap-metal band, but hip hop remained Yas and Bobby’s first love. With the addition of Dj Dopey, the group reformed itself as Dead Celebrity Status. They have shared the stage with acts such as Public Enemy and Ozzy Osbourne. DCS released their first album, Blood Music, in 2004. Their singles have included “We Fall, We Fall” and “Somebody Turn the Lights Off”. Their track “Messiah” appeared on the soundtrack to the 2005 film XXX: State of the Union. |
