The music is Dereck Recay’s world. For him, there is nothing more beautiful than music which develops over time. Dereck first took up music in 1998. Beginning with music blocks and other funny and crazy programs, then advancing to professional programs and instruments, he’s been working on his music for over ten years. His true passion is trance and its many varieties, though he will diversify into other kinds of music, as well. The music he produces is for everybody, and each person will interpret that music in their own way. Dereck’s present Djing career started in 2001 when he was given the opportunity to play in some clubs, as well as for some private parties. A question he asked himself – at the time – was: “Does the composition of music affect one’s sense of mixing?” After a process of trial and error, he had to claim: “It does!” Composition, production, mixing – they all go hand in hand, and in all three areas, Dereck has hit the musical bull’s-eye! For him, the guitar and synthesizer are inseparable, and if you throw in the console, you’ve got music which is as good as gold. His releases include, in 2008: ‘Hydrolook’ (Communicate Records) and ‘Aquarius,’ which appeared on Infrasonic Summer Sampler. In 2009 came the singles, ‘Dream Way’ and ‘Light of the Night.’ ‘Dream Way’ received support from well-known Djs, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Daniel Kandi, and Aly & Fila. Dereck has remixed ‘Free Fall’ (for Abstract V vs. Aquile & TB), ‘Moments’ (for Epica), ‘Rising Sun’ (for Singularity), ‘Rebirth’ (for Hodel and Avenger), ‘Heaven’ (for Dima Krasnik), ‘Nyana’ (for Hensha pres. DCH), ‘Spacious’ (for Lores and Tripmain), ‘Alone’ (for Phuture Sound), and has been part of Rene Ablaze Pres. Winter Session EP (2009) and Several residences and invitations from clubs are making Dereck recognizable among up and coming producers/Djs. Look for more from him in the months and years go come. |
