In less than a year Svetlana rose very rapidly: she formed her own group of professional musicians from St. Petersburg, composed, recorded and released the debut album Can It Not Be Me (Неужели не я) in 2003. Some 100,000 copies were sold officially. In 2004 Surganova & Orchectra were nominated for the Best Live Group prize and got the prestigious FUZZ magazine award Song of The Year. Songs from Can It Not Be Me broke records for top chart positions: Murakami (Мураками) – 16 weeks on the Chart’s Dozen (Чартова Дюжина); It Hurts (Больно) – 10 weeks.
