Electric Outlet is a killer rock fusion instrumental power foursome that showcase formidable technical expertise but in a framework that is easily digestible for even the most hardened instrumental snob! Electric Outlet is a modern, seemingly young fusion quartet (guitar, keyboards, bass, drums) from Germany consisting of four players that I’ve never heard of and you probably haven’t either. The name “Electric Outlet” is a synonym for energy, power and life — which perfectly describes the music of Electric Outlet. Played with love and passion, driven by the insistent impetus everybody initially felt when they were discovering music. Their album “On!” is a classic combination between high-energy rock and fusion without big overdubs, which makes the music totally playable in the live arena. No artificial production gimmicks apart from the few samples and totally handmade help bring the organic nature of this release to the fore. The basic idea for the band came while listening to the album “Spectrum” by Billy Cobham. The attitude and the idea — putting rock musicians (Tommy Bolin, Jan Hammer, Leyland Sklar) together and getting them to play fusion-oriented stuff — made the musicians think about doing an album with a similar approach, but 30 years later. Marcus Deml’s (guitar) unique, intense playing and his highly recognizable tone makes him one of the leading guitar players these days. His project “Errorhead” earned international respect.| |
