The talented young Swede Erik Halldén has written songs for many years and (since 2002) released them at an astonishing rate on small labels like Bedroom and My Secret Garden. Bearing names like “When my broken heart was modern art” and “A portrait of the singer as a married man” - vol.1, 2 and 3, Erik’s poppy tunes are stories of all kinds of things - his hometown Ektorp, Conan O’Brien, hospitals, birthdays, London and “won’t soul music ever change”. Erik and his smallish backing-band are coming to Dynamo to perform songs from his soon-to-be-released full-length album. Erik’s catchy pop-confections are full of melody and he has often been compared to Magnetic Fields, Jonathan Richman, Jens Lekman and Don Lennon. |
