There’s a very Irish kind of soul that runs through the Fast Emperors music, an urgency of passion that belies the big music lurking in every song. Ethereal guitars chime with earthy percussion to draw you closer to your own point of escape. Formed from the ashes of various schoolboy endeavours sometime last year (though no one is officially sure) opening slots for the likes of The Ordinary Boys and Bellx1 soon followed, suggesting a band who could drive just as hard and far as they cared to go. Their recent headline show in The Empire, Belfast only served to fuel this expectation. So let yourself and your clapped out old ears get hurtled down the highways and by-ways towards the shore-line, where Shane Megahey’s starry eyed croon will leave you in no doubt that you’re about to escape.
