Without a name for the band, Lucas (lead singer, guitar) heard the name FRESNO on ESPN and liked it. Since then, the band has been called Fresno. Fresno is also the name of a city in California, the name of a tree, and the name of a river. (and that was the motive for the name of the second cd, O Rio, A Cidade, A Árvore., which means exactly “The River, The City and The Tree”) Friends since high school, Lucas Silveira (lead singer and guitar), Gustavo Mantovani (guitar), Bruno Teixera (bass) and Pedro Cupertino (Drums) started to have their songs noticed through the Internet. Orginally, they recorded songs with only a guitar and vocals into a computar mic and released the songs on the Internet for anyone to download. In 2001, FRESNO released released their first EP, “O Acaso Do Erro”.
