Friends For Hire is pushing the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, and dominating with a new sound of alternative rock. Friends For Hire is Tony - Guitar/Vox, Matt - Synth/Vox, Andrew - Guitar, Philip - Bass and Rodney - Drums. Brothers, Tony and Matt are each co-founders of F4H. Andrew, Philip and Rodney are childhood pals from Charleston. The band was formed in the late summer of 2006. “Avant Garde,” the highly anticipated follow-up to 2007’s “Dollars and Sense” LP was released in August of 2008. 2007 was a breakthrough year for Friends For Hire. “Under Our Skin” became the band’s first groundbreaking and No. 1 Alt. Rock award winning single which received national attention and the likeness of the rock houses like Jimmy Eat World and The Foo Fighters. Following their first release titled “The Meaning of Love This Evening” – EP in 2006, F4H began an 8 month venture into songwriting and more studio work. Matt Malpass of Marigolds and Monsters Studio in Atlanta, Georgia recorded & mixed the EP, and was hired again to finish the full-length album “Dollars & Sense.” Matt Malpass’ previous work included the bands “Rookie of the Year” and “Copeland,” while the drum tracking was recorded at Glow in the Dark Studios, Atlanta (Underoath, Cartel.) The chemistry of the album is very unique and diverse, yet it almost seems as if the stages in each composition were developed at very broad and different times. The 2007 Atlantic Music Festival played a very important role in the band’s career. Music critics hyped the band as “The Buzz of 2007” and “The Most Entertaining Band of the AMF.” F4H’s lead single from Avant Garde titled, “Danger Us” was released in September ’08 along with the band’s first original music video – directed by Scott Hansen of Entrepid Media (Conditions, We Were Gentlemen.) The follow-up single “Feeling Alive” proved once again that Friends For Hire’s pop-rock sound will remain everlasting in years to come. |
